Loneliness is something that affects us all and so GB Ministries is seeking to provide a number of opportunities for women to have space to connect with one another, and to connect with God.
Over 9 million adults in the UK - across all age ranges - report feeling always or often lonely (The Co-Op and British Red Cross), with women reporting experiencing loneliness more often than men (ONS/CLS 2017). This has become such a prevalent problem in society that the government has appointed a Minister for Loneliness to act upon this ‘silent epidemic’.
As a response, GB Ministries (GBM) is holding a retreat weekend to gather women of all ages, from 26-28 October 2018. This event will look at the Old Testament story of Abigail, and provide an opportunity for women to be refreshed and replenished, with a particular focus on building resilience.
Comments from women at previous events include:
‘A fabulous weekend of fellowship with a wonderful group of ladies, all with the same aim in mind’ - Carolyn
‘This is a good opportunity to get to know other women, have fun and experience things outside of your comfort zone, which is challenging and rewarding’ – Julia.
The weekend takes place from 6.30pm on Friday 26 October 2018 to 2.30pm on Sunday 28 October 2018 at Cliff College, Calver, Hope Valley, S32 3XG. It’s open to women of all ages, from both inside and outside of GB, and costs £175, which includes all food, accommodation and materials. Single rooms are available for a single room supplement of £20.

When you ask any former member of Girls’ Brigade what they remember most about being part of a group, it's likely they'll say their friends or the fun times they had earning badges. Perhaps they even still have them.
