Join GB at Cliff Festival for our 125th year

7 Dec 2017

GB has 125 places for children and young people, plus leaders, at this year’s Cliff Festival. So why not book your group in and celebrate with us during our birthday year?

Cliff College’s annual Festival, at GB’s home in Derbyshire, will take place between 25 and 28 May 2018 and is suitable for all ages. This year’s theme is Ablaze and one of the main speakers is GB’s President Rachel Gardner.

This year, to mark our 125th birthday, GB has a special camping area reserved for groups and individual GB members who want to come along.

You just need to book and then bring along your own camping and cooking equipment. However our area will be overseen by a camp-qualified CO and designated leaders, so you don’t need to be camp qualified or risk assess the event.

You and your group can join in with all the usual Festival activities but with the option to join a GB group in the afternoons in a dedicated marquee.

GB’s Charlotte Hendy will also be heading up the Festival’s 18-30s stream called Radiate.

To book, you’ll need to complete a Festival booking form and a GB Residential Event Registration Form - both available to download below. Send us both and we’ll pass the Festival one to Cliff College. Please note, the places are available on a first come, first served basis in the GB camping area.

The prices, which include festival wristband and a camping plot, are:

* Age 18+ £55 per person
* Age 16-17 £45 per person
* Age 15 and under £20 per person.

If you can’t make the whole weekend, why not come for the day?

Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the Festival – and volunteering would count for those doing their Queen’s Award or Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. If you're interested, contact Cathi Thacker for more details.

    On Wednesday, Girlguiding released its annual Girls’ Attitudes survey. The biggest survey of its kind in the UK, it asked the opinions of just under 2,000 girls and young women aged 7 to 21 (not just members of Girlguiding). As it gives us an insight about how girls feel about a range of issues, emerging pressures and what they need to support their happiness, wellbeing and opportunities in life, it’s important that we listen to their voices.
