The recent Refresh training saw the official launch of GB’s new Hope programme pack material - ideal to use in 2018, as part of GB’s 125th anniversary project, #WeAreGB125, and the Give Hope Challenge (and in future years too).
The Give Hope Challenge is all about blessing local communities, by encouraging every GB group to engage in at least 1 social action activity e.g. supporting their local food bank, raising money for charity, litter picking and caring for the local environment etc. Through engaging in these activities a great opportunity is provided to share Jesus’ love in both word and action!
To help with this challenge, GB and the mission organisation HOPE, have been working together to develop the Hope programme pack. This fun and engaging resource contains a programme booklet for each age group (n:vestigate, n:gage, n:counta and n:spire) which helps them to:
Each booklet helps the children and young people to connect with this through a range of interactive activities linked to the questions of why, who, what, how and so? Alongside these are a series of Bible passages/stories to help them explore what Jesus said and did, and what they can learn from this.
In working with GB to develop the resource, HOPE Youth Director Phil Timson shares ‘HOPE are hugely excited to have been working with GB in the build up to their 125th birthday and in particular with the development of the Hope programme pack, which empowers children and young people from across GB groups to be active at sharing faith in words and action.’
As well as being great for the Give Hope Challenge, by using this resource groups will also be playing a part in mission organisation HOPE’s, HOPE 2018 - Year of Mission.
GB’s Mission Co-ordinator Hannah Field, says ‘We’re looking forward to seeing how God will use GB groups to give hope to their local communities in 2018 - and the impact this will have beyond our 125th anniversary year.’
The resource also contains advice for leaders to help with planning and delivery. Further support material can also be found on the GB leaders’ online resource base - including links to film clips which could be shared with the children and young people to help them explore the hope Jesus brings.
