Around 40 inspirational change-makers who are passionate about raising the volume of hope for girls attended the first ever UK Girl Gathering.
The event, held at Oasis College of Higher Education in London on Friday 9 October 2015, was organised by Girls’ Brigade Ministries.
Led by GB’s Participation and Advocacy Co-ordinator Claire Rush and Rachel Gardner, founder of Romance Academy and GB’s President, the event gave delegates, from CEOs to ministers and youth workers to activists from across the country, the chance to be informed and share their ideas as well as to celebrate International Day of the Girl (Sunday 11 October).
Claire says ‘We wanted to create an interactive and dynamic space to connect, share what is happening in girls’ ministry and see if God is calling us to collaborate and dream together.’
The event finished by identifying 10 possible ways the group could commit to seeing a generation of girls rising in Gospel hope such as gathering a collection of inspirational women from different walks of life to talk to girls and inspire them; building churches and organisations that preach and teach about gender equality and showcase examples of women in the Bible; and providing a national opportunity, such as a festival or conference, to encourage, support, educate, minister to, call and to inspire.
Claire adds ‘It was a truly amazing day with so many people with expertise and passion in the same room and we hope it may be the start of something big.’

The new school year saw the opening of 3 new GB groups in the Northumberland & Durham, Merseyside and Stour Valley Districts. All 3 groups have already had a great response and are enjoying welcoming girls through their doors every week.
