Testaments are 'road-map' for Girls' Brigade members

1 Aug 2018

Members of Girls’ Brigade groups across England and Wales are excited to receive GB-crested New Testaments from The Gideons International.

And presentations in 2018 are extra special as it’s Girls’ Brigade’s (GB) 125th anniversary year.

The members of 18th Liverpool GB were visited by Cliff and Pam on 12 July 2018 at their base - St James’ Methodist/URC Church. Cliff and Pam joined the group on their Wimbledon evening where they were all blessed in sharing strawberries and ice cream together.

GB Team Leader Amy Bates says ‘We’re keen to guide our girls of all ages as they grow in their faith journey and by having Bibles with the GB crest on the front and a special GB prayer on the back page we hope it will remind them how special they are and how GB has enriched their lives. Each girl will use their New Testament differently but each girl received it with a huge smile and grace.’

GB Leader Jan Underwood says ‘The Gideon Bible contains passages and psalms that can guide and help our girls through many different situations that they may come across during their journey into adulthood. As GB leaders we’ll encourage them to use the scriptures as a road-map that they can depend on and use to constantly renew and deepen their own relationship with God.’

GB leader Jayne McLaren adds ‘In GB our mission is to encourage the girls to grow in all areas of life. We take them to places, do lots of different activities and teach them about God. The beautiful Gideons’ Bibles the girls were given made them feel very special and they loved that the books are personalised for GB.’
